Some Neat Final Fantasy Swag

Some Neat Final Fantasy Swag

I'm a bit late on posting these, but they are still pretty cool. A few months ago, I went to the newly added "Side Quest Decatur" for the Midwest Toy and Comic Fest. It was the first year for the secondary even in Decatur, normally it's held in Bloomington, about an hour north. It wasn't anything super fancy, mostly just a big vendor room. I didn't end up buying much, but I did pick up these neat custom Final Fantasy items from Rusted Icon Designs. One is this slate coaster, with a fun reference to the Spony Bard line from…
Housekeeping Matters

Housekeeping Matters

It's been a bit since I've last posted, I admit. Today I mostly wanted to address a few housekeeping matters. I've moved the Letterboxd movie post syndication to Lameazoid.com. These posts were filtered from the home page and primarily serve the purpose of archiving what I post on Letterboxd. Frankly,. if you cared about these, I'd prefer a follow over there. They also now appear here on Lameazoid. They are still excluded from the main page. I post TV and movie content on Lameazoid, it's just a "better fit" over there. On the subject of "mostly for archival purposes". I…
Eclipse Adventure

Eclipse Adventure

In 2017, I took a trek with my parents down to Carbondale Illinois to view the total solar eclipse. While these are reasonably common occurrences, they are not super common in an area where it's easy to go see them. At this point, I've been fortunate to have two of them come nearby within a few years. We had vague plans to go back to Carbondale again for the 2024 eclipse but instead opted to go to my aunt and uncle's place in Indiana. With one big benefit being that it meant avoiding excessively pricey hotels. Last Eclipse, we stayed…
Journaling in Public and Journaling in Private

Journaling in Public and Journaling in Private

Over the years, I've used a lot of different methods for writing. Pen and paper way in the past. Microsoft Word for a while, because, that's what Word is for right? Windows Live Writer was a good one for a while, though it's been discontinued, there is an open-source iteration called Open Live Writer. Sometimes I'll just write right in the WordPress editor. I was writing into OneNote for a while. These days I'm much more into controlling my data, well, I've kind of always been into that, but lately, it's about formats. I am constantly trying to reorganize my…
Blaugust 2023 Wrap-Up – What I Learned

Blaugust 2023 Wrap-Up – What I Learned

The last theme week for Blaugust is "Lessons Learned". I can't say I learned anything new, I've been blogging for a while, literally decades, and I'm already aware of well, all of that which comes along with it. As, kind of depressing as they are. But let's pretend it's all fresh and new. Daily Updates As much as I like the idea of updating daily, I am not cut out for it, not anymore. Maybe never, though this isn't the first time I put effort into daily blogging. I like to think I have plenty of idea of things to…
My Computing Journey – Part 4 – Going Online

My Computing Journey – Part 4 – Going Online

The next phase of my computing journey would have been in High School. I am pretty sure this machine was some kind of Pentium, I don't know a lot of the details beyond that. Like I mentioned last week, some of the specific details get a bit hazy for a bit here, though the next round is decidedly not hazy again. While the main computer was still technically the family computer, I ended up with one of the older machines in my room at one point as well. There are a few key defining moments of this era in my…
