Weekly Wrap Up (2026.07.25)

These are starting to get long, its almost like I should just blog smaller posts more. I have not been following it but I caught the end of the World Cup last weekend while at my parent's house for a visit. I don't understand fútbol at all. I mean I do, I get the gist, but like, they added 20 minutes because no one had scored? Then randomly added another 5 minutes? Maybe because the refs kept eating up the clock looking at injuries? Anyway, it was kind of exciting at the end, at least. In other "fun" times this…

Weekly Wrap Up (2026.07.18)

It looks like my work trips to St Louis are going to continue for the foreseeable future, so I guess I'll need to work out some sort of fun routine there. Maybe see if there are any good music or collectible shops int he area down there for when I am down that way. Otherwise it's been a pretty standard issue week. Nothing much special happening, just the usual nonsense. Music Last Sunday was another MCCD Free concert. This one was Broken Brogue, an Irish group doing Irish music. Well, probably Irish. The lead guy said he was Irish and…

Weekly Wrap Up (2026.07.11)

Maybe one day I will do real blog posts again. I mean, technically this is probably closer to "real blogging" than silly reviews or whatever. I actually have been feeling… more into the idea again lately, I guess. Technically the Fourth of July happened after last post, I went down to the bridge and watched the city fireworks as we often do. No fun travel food this week. I just got QDOBA and another, different Crazy Bowl dish. I did look up and found a ramen place near the office down there, but I've been working an hour earlier than…

Weekly Wrap Up (2026.07.04)

Happy 4th of July… I guess. It's the big "250th Anniversary" but it really doesn't feel like anything here is worth celebrating. I don't have plans. I might go watch fireworks later on the bridge around the corner. It's never crowded and it's got a nice view over the lake. I tried going tot he Zoo and Children's Museum area last year but it was more crowded and the view was not great because of trees and light posts and people. I want to throw out a bit of a send off. Almost two years ago exactly, I bought this…

Weekly Wrap Up (2026.06.27)

It's been an eventful few weeks. Mostly because of new work activities traveling some. Funny story, without too much detail. A coworker retired, so I am covering a second location. I met with my coworker before he left, for a refresher on where things were at the site. I got there a week later, without him, and had the dumbest problem. I could not figure out how to turn on the lights. In my normal location, everything is motion activated, at this location it's not. And when I met with him, the lights were on, so I didn't even think…

Weekly Wrap Up (2026.06.13)

Oh look, slacka lackin again. It's not even been that boring, just kind of uneventful. I've also had this vague annoaynce at the idea of AI slurping up all my dumb blog posts and using that data to make more dumb blog posts for others. Maybe I should stop trying to fix my typos to screw with it. Oh geeze, it's been 3 weeks, I thought it was just two. I've got a new temporary work thing going on which should liven things up on the work front. Basically, i get to cover another office once every week or two,…
Mayllennial – Cereal Box Prizes

Mayllennial – Cereal Box Prizes

Kids these days (shakes fist) don't know how much better it used to be with cereal, we got prizes, PRIZES! TOYS! Not some cracker jack nonsense… well, it kind of was the same idea, but it was better. Also for the unaware yoots, Crack Jack used to give prizes in their little boxes of caramel popcorn. Hell they may still, I don't eat Crack Jack, my wife is allergic to nuts, plus I can buy a whole bag of caramel corn for way cheaper. But no prizes. Also, the cereal prizes back then probably were not actually good. I remember…
