There are a couple of events going on in LEGO Fortnite at the moment for some neat builds. One new, one returning.
The Thing from Beneath Event
The returning one is The Thing from Beneath, a Ninjago based quest that will earn an Airship blueprint. It starts at the Airship dock with Captain Flintlocke
Instead of commenting the Thing may return, he tells you it has, and offers to trade some special bait for 150 Bamboo. With the bait acquired, the next step us to head to the Thing from Beneath’s spawn point, which should be nearby. My was a very short trip directly north of the airship dock. Its probably worth noting each attempt will take 15 Unknowable Energy as well, which is gathered from harder challenges around the island.
There is a small alter to use, which spawns The Thing nearby. Its down in a little valley so it can’t really escape.
Be aware, this beast is tough as heck. Even with how I play with sandboxed pseudo godmode with flying, I still ended up getting killed. Partly because I got greedy and started rushing in with my sword because shooting arrows is sooooooo slow. The actual fight I stuck with the crossbow and it took like, 120 arrows at ~750 damage each (maybe 10% were ~1200 crits.). Also, dying resets its HP.
As I was flying most of the fight I can’t really gice any good advice for how to right. The beast has a few regular attacks and hits hard. It will cloak and bounce around the room before reappearing and charging. Sometimes it rears its tentacles up and then shoots a pair of energy blast lasers. Sometimes it digs its tentacles in and they pop put of the ground at you. The last big attach is simply jumping at you. It can and will land on the tops of the pillars in its space though.
After defeating the beast a treasure chest appeared with loot inside. Most important being my first Airship Parts manual.
It takes 4 manuals to get the airship, which I believe means fighting this thing 3 more times. Ugh, kind of annoying, but not awful. Its more annoying that there is an 18 hour respawn timer, so its not possible to just camp out and kill it four times in a row.
The Machinist Car Event
This one is much simpler. Its already been going but its supposed to rerun in a few months for anyone who missed parts. I don’t understand limited time item drops but whatever, it is what it is.
Log in and I believe it just gives the new basic car blueprint. Then, each day, The Machinist shows upnat your village and gives you more optional custom parts to use to make custom cars.
I still don’t quite understand how vehicles work, the car there in the corner of that image is one I made, I thought it was complete but it does not drive. I added wheels and an engine and a driver’s seat. I probably missed some special piece.
