I figure it might be a fun contrast with last week’s look at Beast Box Lovegun, with a much much simpler Beast Box item, the IceQube. This was the second of these Beast Box toys I picked up, quite a while ago. It’s technically not just one figure, but four of them. Four little robot Penguins.

It’s one of my favorite things in my collection, because penguins are one of, if not my favorite, animals. They are just, goofy little cold birds. This set pretty much does everything you would expect penguins to do, stand around, lift their heads, flap their wings.

Ok, I will admit, I am kind of just filling here some, the set is quite simple. They don’t even really “transform”. You just fold them all up and cluster them into.a.cube shape. There is a neat little Magnetic gimmick that sort of, sucks them together and holds them in place together. They also have small pegs in their feet to keep them together as well.

Aside from the previously mentioned penguin appropriate articulation, they each have articulated eyes. A small rotator on the underside of the head of each one can be used to roll the eyes between a basic pupil some squinty “happy eyes” and some slanted “closed eyes.” Its a nice little way to help distinguish between the four.

Its not the only way however, each has a number tampographed on the front, 01-04, and each has one of the four suits you find in playing cards, hearts, clubs, diamonds, or spades. Lastly there is one attachable head tuft that will fit any of them, but I usually put it on number 01 as the “leader”.

Its a fun little set from a “cute robot penguins” perspective, but if you want something that is dynamic or transforms, its not really anything to write home about.
