Transformers – Legacy – Rescue Bots Chase

Transformers has kind of been spreading it self across audiences for a while now. There is movie content and toys pretty consistently, there is the collector line that often homages back to the G1 era for your classic fans, there is usually a cartoon for the 10-13 sort of audience and often there is a “Young Kids” line of very simplified toys.

Transformers Rescue Bots was one of those kids lines.

These toys are not really interesting to a lot of collectors, but some of the characters and designs are. This is where Legacy Chase comes in. Chase was a police car from the Rescue Bots line, and here, for the Legacy line, he has been reimagined into a proper regular Transformer. He shares the basic design ques of his original but has an actual robot mode and proportions all around to fit in with other collector level toys.

He also gets a proper complex transformation. Maybe a bit too complex. He isn’t hard to transform, but he has his tricky parts and everything needs to be lined up just right to get it to all massage into place.

I am a little tired of the endless G1 rehashes, but I really dig the idea of getting a rehash for a toy that never had a “real toy” to start with. Plus he is kind of a new character. The G1 Chase was part of the Throttlebots and was a little red sports car. Kind of or nice given the original Chase is the kind of vehicle likely to get pulled over by Cop Chase. G1 Chase actually also got an update during Titans Return.

RB Chase here also has a few accessories. There are a pair of red and blue lights that can peg on to one of several 5mm spots on the car or body. They sort of resemble the spotlights that most cop cars have near the side mirrors, except way out of proportion. He also has a sort of, energon claw, which harkens back to one of his toy releases. Maybe its also something from the show, the only thing I get searching is that one of the playschool tier toys had a similar claw. It is a weapon that makes sense for a cop Transformer at least.

I also have one complaint, not related to the slightly annoying transformation. The shoulders don’t really seem to lock in at all, or at least they are very loose. Which means adjusting the arms causes the whole mechanism to sort of flop out.

Overall its a fun mold and character though. This same mold was also retooled as Legacy Prime Cliffjumper.
