Game Hacking – Installing Homebrew on my 3DS

Game Hacking – Installing Homebrew on my 3DS

Man, talk about some monkey paw ass shit. I have finally after wanting to do it for, a good while now, installed Homebrew on my 3DS. The process is relatively simple, or more it SHOULD be relatively simple. I followed this guide here. I'm linking that page instead of the actual guide I used because the methods vary based on operating system, 3DS Model, Software version, etc. So for more clarity, I followed THIS guide, for my New 3DS with up to date software. The process should have been easy but I ran into a few issues. Specifically, after installing…
HDMI Cables for Retro Consoles

HDMI Cables for Retro Consoles

I've slowly been working on doing a bunch of upgrades to my console video game space. In some cases it involves elaborate changes to how things work with a particular system. I upgraded my PS2 to run from a hard drive, for example. I've modified my PS Mini to run more than just the base set of ROMS. I have an extra Wii I plan to try to jailbreak as well. I've looked into getting an Everdrive style cartridge for my N64, though those are kind of weirdly expensive. Not everything is about playing more games though, sometimes it's just…
Adding a Hard Drive to My PS2

Adding a Hard Drive to My PS2

I always kind of debate on whether project posts like this should go here or on Blogging Intensifies. On one hand, it's a Video Game related post and project. On the other hand, It's also kind of an electronics and technology-based project. This one, ended up here. One of my "on the list" projects has been to upgrade some of my old consoles. Two specifically, at least initially, are the PS2, and the Wii. The Playstation 2 was always a favorite of mine, though considering how much it sold it was probably a lot of people's favorite. I played mine…
Arduboy FX

Arduboy FX

I recently picked up a neat little device called an Arduboy FX. It was a bit of an impulse buy after someone posted about getting one on Threads. It turns out it's not actually particularly new, the community goes back quite a few years, but it's still pretty cool none the less, and I am happy with my experience with it. So what is it? It's a small credit card sized handheld based on the Arduino. On a related note, it's "credit card sized" in footprint, not so much in thickness. I wouldn't trust putting this in a wallet at…
Benn Venn Game Boy Cart Dumper

Benn Venn Game Boy Cart Dumper

Another device I've been wanting to get for a while was a Game Boy Card ripper. There are a few varieties of these, but I went with the Benn Venn Joey Jr. The key feature here, is the ability to copy off Saved files. I can get ROMs anywhere, what I really want is to preserve my old Save Files. This device does Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advanced titles. The most important title worked right off the bat. My original Pokemon Blue is not preserved forever with my original Charizard. There are ways to get these…
