Thoughts on Twitter, Musk, and Alternatives…

I have really really tried to mostly avoid discussing Twitter and Musk and everything that has happened over the past, year and a half to two years there. I do occasionally share news in the link blog posts, but even there, I mostly just avoid it. I am pretty outspoken about my dislike of Musk and Twitter on other forums but not on my own forums. Watching this death spiral is really entertaining though. And it is a death spiral. It may not actually result in the death of Twitter, god knows we won't get that lucky, but it's just…
Eclipse Adventure

Eclipse Adventure

In 2017, I took a trek with my parents down to Carbondale Illinois to view the total solar eclipse. While these are reasonably common occurrences, they are not super common in an area where it's easy to go see them. At this point, I've been fortunate to have two of them come nearby within a few years. We had vague plans to go back to Carbondale again for the 2024 eclipse but instead opted to go to my aunt and uncle's place in Indiana. With one big benefit being that it meant avoiding excessively pricey hotels. Last Eclipse, we stayed…
Adding a Hard Drive to My PS2

Adding a Hard Drive to My PS2

I always kind of debate on whether project posts like this should go here or on Blogging Intensifies. On one hand, it's a Video Game related post and project. On the other hand, It's also kind of an electronics and technology-based project. This one, ended up here. One of my "on the list" projects has been to upgrade some of my old consoles. Two specifically, at least initially, are the PS2, and the Wii. The Playstation 2 was always a favorite of mine, though considering how much it sold it was probably a lot of people's favorite. I played mine…

Journaling in Public and Journaling in Private

Over the years, I've used a lot of different methods for writing. Pen and paper way in the past. Microsoft Word for a while, because, that's what Word is for right? Windows Live Writer was a good one for a while, though it's been discontinued, there is an open-source iteration called Open Live Writer. Sometimes I'll just write right in the WordPress editor. I was writing into OneNote for a while. These days I'm much more into controlling my data, well, I've kind of always been into that, but lately, it's about formats. I am constantly trying to reorganize my…
Free Code Camp Responsive Web Design

Free Code Camp Responsive Web Design

I have a huge pile of online courses bookmarked that I would like to run through. This does have some pitfalls, maybe I'll get to that another day. Today I want to discuss one I finished. The FreeCodeCamp Responsive Web Design course. You get a little certification for completing these, which mostly just bolsters the part of me that, doesn't really find much value in certifications. I didn't really need to take this course, but it's part of the basic "core list" on FreeCodeCamp's website, and my obsessive completionism mind says I should do those, in addition to anything else…
