Pretty standard week really. We went shopping on Sunday for shoes, though I did not end up getting any. I didn’t really need shoes, but there was a Khol’s sale and coupon and basically the potential to stack deals into a deal. But no one ended up getting anything at Khol’s. I was told I was not allowed to get these sweet cat Heelys by my wife. Laaaaame.

I did pick up this Wallet at Ross. I probably won’t use it forever since it technically does not have enough card slots, but it will be fun for a while. I have been off and on thinking I might need a new wallet.

Last week the alarm team I am on solved a potential huge problem and it has been working still so far, which is nice. I don’t really care to go too deep in work activities but that’s a good plus.
I finished up tagging my Joplin journal entries. This allows me to do a few fun things. One, I can get an idea of what topics I have written about the most. I also found a ton of “Tweet style” LiveJournal cringe, that I pulled out, and compiled into single page archives. This cleans up my numbers a lot, because, for example, 2006 was enormous. But now it’s closer to every other year. I also tagged some posts to get back to with a todo tag, things I had forgotten about that I may want to revisit or repost.
On my hobbies…
Music
I’ve had a bit more time to just listen to music lately. Nothing super new, but I did go through Aurora’s Discography graph again, which is always excellent.
But in more active activities, it was a week for free music at the Macon County Conservation District again, last Sunday, on Father’s Day. So I met my parents for one of those again. This time my daughter came along. She said she enjoyed it, it’s hard to tell sometimes, the youths and all.
I should clarify just for the sake of it, my daughter is 25 years old. It’s not like she is a kid or anything.

Anyway, we got there before my parents, despite worries we would be late (from shoe shopping), and having to stop by and pick up the sandwiches we had ordered to eat as a picnic at the mark where the music is. We got there early and walked around a bit on the little walking paths. I keep thinking of going there some weekend just to hang out. Maybe use the bike a bit.
Back to the Music, the band was a local group called The Celtic Whistle. They seem to be regulars in the Are, and they played a lot of Irish music including some more well know ones like Whiskey in the Jar and a little Sea Shanty style song.
Gaming
Pokemon Yellow
I’ve been making a lot of headway on this one. Lt. Surge was a weird pushover after Misty. And he only had one Pokémon. Erika in the 4th gym was annoying because all of her assistants (whatever they are) have Bellsprouts with Wrap. What an annoying move.
My team is feeling pretty solid, though annoyingly bland. Pikachu of course, he is the game’s mascot and the Starter. Gyarados, because that’s the emergency fallback. Rounding up half the team are Charmeleon, Ivysaur, and Wartortle. The original starters. The last slot is in rotation.
I find it really dumb that I can’t get into Lavender Town because the government there doesn’t give it’s guards drinks.

Beyond playing, I have started to look into ways to transfer my original Blue Cart Pokemon to this Virtual Console Yellow. Surprisingly, it seems like it’s possible, though not technically “legal”. I am not transferring hacked Pokemon or anything here though.
I already have a ROM version of my original save file. It seems the best path is to rip the Yellow save file to a ROM. Trade them between ROMs, then return the Ylow save to the 3DS. There are ways to accomplish this that are not hard.
Plus it would be super awesome to have my OGs in Yellow. Plus, it would allow me to dump them ino Home in the future if I want to. My Charizard can live on forever that way!
Pokémon Go
I am starting to get a hang of these Dynamax/Gigantamax battles. I think I kind of like it, but also, it feels a little pointless. They don’t even seem to keep their Max status when transferred to Pokémon Home.
The battles themselves are just enough more exciting than raids that I enjoy doing them.
It feels like something weird is going on with items though. I am super starved for Stardust, and I have noticed my previously huge cache of potions and revives is quickly dwindling to nothing.
Balatro
I picked up Balatro a bit again. It came up in my Discord group. I don’t know if something changed, but it feels easier somehow. I finished with two more decks (3 total now).
At this point the easy strategy is basically to max out on an easy to get hand like two pair or pair or high card, and hope you get a few growing multiplier Jokers based on those hands.
Toys
As mentioned previously, not a bit time for me lately on toys, though I did pre order that sweet Shuma Gorath that was recently announced. I kind of wanted a Shuma Gorath for a very long time, back when I had vague hope of making a Marvel vs Capcom 2 Display, like 20 years ago. Plus a big tentacle monster is always fun and goofy.

I did pick up this little die cast truck at an estate sale. It’s technically a toy. I am not sure Jewel still exists as a grocery store anymore.
Everything Else
I had a terrible round of steamrolls and Uninstaller Overwatch again. I don’t think I care about the Dokiwatch pass and I am not sure I care about the next pass (Arcade and Academy). There is a super super COOL Venture Skin for the Arcade skin, but it’s a shop skin not a pass skin.
Lame.
I also have not really played Fortnite since Star Wars ended. I was already feeling burned out and the current Superhero season feels pretty meh.
