Music
Yesterday was hashtag Bandcamp Friday again. I squeezed out a bit for a bit. Hayley Williams has a new band, Power Snatch, that released an EP a few weeks ago. I picked it up.
I saw another blogger mention these remix soundtracks of Chrono Trigger and Super Metroid. Both were “PWYW” so I picked both up.
I also randomly searched up Lauren Mayberry and remembered how much I enjoyed Ashamed by HEALTH, which features Lauren on some vocals, back when I had Spotify. And it was on Bandcamp, so I threw it on the small pile as well.
Otherwise I have been just jumping around a bit randomly, some Gorillaz, a bunch of Sigrid, some Radiohead, all the usual staples.
Video Games
I’ve mostly pulled myself off my usual “Time Sink” games and started playing random shorter games from my Steam Library. A couple of small short puzzle games, The Navigator and Voyager.
The Navigator has you controlling a little sailor man, who must manipulate these planets by throwing an anchor around. It was pretty quick and felt like it ended just as it was starting to feel complex.
Voyager is a sort of, orbital mechanics simulation where you orbit around a sun in a space and discover hidden bodies in the area. The hardest part was getting the achievement where you can only touch each planet once. Which is tricky since you can’t see them before you are close.
I also started and finished Transformers Earthspark Expedition. I already wrote a full seperate review for it.
I’m still doing daily activities in Heartopia but I have finished the “season” and it takes like 15 minutes to do the daily activities. I am mostly holding out to see what the next season brings, but its starting to get a little dull already. I am also already pretty close to the current max level.
Toys
Nothing new on the toys front, been extra broke again lately. I have become extremely disenfranchised by the McDonalds Changeables thing. I have 7 different ones, of 16 total. But I also have like 5 or 6 duplicates. This is basically part of why I avoid anything “blind box” in general. These are essentially “Blind Boxed but food.”
I need to ship Quickstrike soon in my BBTS PoL. I was hoping one of my other two pre ordered items would drop. I got an email that DK-68 Jetstrike (A 3rd party Jet Jaguar Transformer) is “on a boat” but I am not sure it will make it in time.
TV & Movies
Because weekly episode drops are annoying and I keep catching up, we needed something else to watch in between. And that show ended up being Orphan Black. I have meant to get to this one for a while. Who boy what a fun trippy show. Tatiana Maslany is so good in it at her many roles. The basic premise is well, basically she plays a bunch of clones. All with different personalities and quirks. And she does it so well.
There was a scene, one character pours some wine for one of the clones. And then pours some for another. And I think “Thats a fun effect, since she is playing both clones.” Then it occurs to me, the person pouring the drinks, is ALSO her.
Its all so so clean.
We also recently watched both the old and new Running Man movies. The old one with Ahnahld Swazenhegah is… kind of trashy goofy 80s nonsense. The new one was pretty good, with a message about corporate controlled media narratives that felt extremely pertinent to today’s world of endless lies in leadership.
