Tomora – Come Closer

Tomora – Come Closer

Welcome to my reviewish write up on the debute album Come Closer from Tomora. Tomora is a joint side project from Tom Rowlands of the Chemical Brothers and Aurora. The name is a portmanteau of their names, Tom-(Aur)ora, Tomora. It features a lot of vocals from Aurora, but its much much more heavy electronic music like you would hear from The Chemical Brothers. Come Closer feels like a random project that came out of nowhere, but I have some pet theories that its sort of been a thing for a while, or at least the concept of a thing. A…
Roblox – Aurora Runaway Forest

Roblox – Aurora Runaway Forest

I've tried a few times to sort of, understand Roblox. It reminds me of Fortnite, which I like, and it's sort of a virtual world, which I enjoy, so it feels like I could at least be able to be into Roblox a little. I think a lot of my hangup with it has been that the avatar customization is so weird and clunky. The base body is this weird ugly blocky dude. You can get some custom bodies and parts, but there is no clear way to know what items are compatible. Plus, it all costs money to actually…
Music Monday – Featuring Aurora Edition

Music Monday – Featuring Aurora Edition

So I've been doing album write ups on Fridays, but sometimes I do still listen to singles and one offs and songs not on albums. So here's a new series, starting here in Blaugust, where instead of doing albums, I just talk about videos and songs I enjoy. Also I'm calling it "Music Monday" because it's not very original and I am a sucker for alliteration. The Chemical Brothers - Eve of Destruction https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYsXKhBknyM Look at me, cheating already by just doing Aurora videos (well not all of them). I once made a comment on the Aurora Discord that my…
Aurora – A Different Kind of Human

Aurora – A Different Kind of Human

I figure I should just continue on from Infections of a Different Kind with the follow-up album, A Different Kind of Human. These are, in theory, two parts to a greater whole, though it's not clear if there will every actually be anymore of that whole, I personally hope so. Aurora's fourth album, The Gods We Can Touch, has grown on me since it was first released, but I still don't enjoy it as much as her previous albums and it definitely has a slightly different feel to it overall. Of the pair, I think overall I prefer A Different…
Aurora – Infections of a Different Kind

Aurora – Infections of a Different Kind

Technically Infections of A Different Kind is an EP and not an album, along with it's sister EP, A Different Kind of Human, they make up a complete double album. I also have heard that Aurora has plans to put out some addition "Step X" albums at some point, though I can't speak to any truth on that. I certainly wouldn't mind it. A Different Kind of Human carries on with a lot of the themes present in All My Demons... with tracks that are self reflecting and tracks that are more outward focused, and tracks that are both quite…
