Weekly Wrap Up (2025.08.02)

I didn't post last week, and almost didn't this week, it's been a bit of a slow non eventful couple of weeks. Nothing really new going on at all. But it's Blaugust, so I should post, because it's kind of "easy filler". Life Eat, Sleep, Work, Repeat, Eat, Sleep, Work, Repeat, Eat, Sleep, Work, Repeat… Not quite as fun as raving I suppose. I've had a bit of interesting excitement going on at work that I really probably can't really discuss, so that's fun. Not much exciting honestly. I finally got around to putting up actual netting around the little…
Welcome to Blaugust 2025 – Introduction

Welcome to Blaugust 2025 – Introduction

Welcome to Blaugust, and the day one post here for the event. If you know me, then this whole post will just feel like a redundant sort of trip down memory lane. But that's what I do I guess. Wax nostalgia at things of the past. Maybe? I really don't know anymore. I just kind of, write what comes to mind. Nostalgia is such a vicious creature, another way to say that you fear the future.-- Work of Fiction by Lauren Mayberry I just love that quote from that song. Anyway, I don't have a plan, I rarely do anymore,…
Linux Move Complete!

Linux Move Complete!

I mentioned a few hanging issues on my move to Linux (again) and I'm happy to say that all of them have been fairly easily resolved and completed. Now I can move on to doing more again. Shared Drives As suspected, the core issue with getting the mounts to work was with the device IDs in the fstab file. I managed to sort that out and map the drives to automatically mount, which meant I could move on the adding them to sharing things with Samba again. I did end up having to rebuild the Docker drive interim, though it…

What I’ve Been Up To (2025.07.19)

Its been a busy week this week. Days off always screw me up. On Tuesday I was off and ordered dishwasher tabs on Amazon because no one carries the ones we use in town anymore (orange gel packs). It says "Deliver tomorrow". I thought "I kind of hate having some delivery person working Sunday but we are out of them. Then the next morning I was putting dishes in the dishwasher thinking, "No wait, I guess yesterday (Tuesday) was Sunday, because I am going to work today, so the next day thing isn't so bad." "Wait, its Wednesday." I had…
Windows 10 End of Life

Windows 10 End of Life

The end of life for Windows 10 is almost upon us, but in this case, for me, its the actual END of life. I finally just bit the bullet and wiped it out on my secondary project desktop. It was less painful than expected, though I still have some clean up things to do. My main worry was how to migrate my docker set up from the Windows 10 GUI to a CLI based Docker in Ubuntu. I realized I could easily test this using WSL within Windows, which I did. I was surprised to find that I could simply,…
