Everyone you loved and enjoyed in the last two films are now colossal assholes to each other. Maybe its some sort of negative aura from venom, but if it is, it's not clear.
I also find it amusing how they clearly had no clue how you would even defeat Sandman and so he just sort of... Dusted himself?
