I mentioned a bit ago that I had some more import figures on the way. I’ve finally received them, so, here they are.
Mafex BvS Superman
A year or so ago, I picked up the Medicom Mafex Dark Knight Joker figure. It looked pretty cool and seemed to be the best version of that Joker available. I was worried a bit because I’d heard a lot of mixed voices on the Mafex line. Apparently the first several releases were really bad, floppy loose joints, being the biggest issue. The Joker isn’t quite a solid as figures from other Japanese companies, but he is a lot better than Medicom’s earlier offerings. Eventually I added the Dark Knight Batman to accompany my Joker, and he ended up being pretty nice as well (note: the Dark Knight Batman has an earlier release that falls into the crummy category).
Anyway, I’ve decided to go ahead and just stick with Mafex for my DC figures. The sculpts are nice, and they don’t suffer from Bull Shit Hips Syndrome like the domestic offerings tend to have. Unlike Marvel, I’m not super into owning a zillion different DC characters, and I don’t care that they aren’t all actually from the same “universe” just that they are all “live action” based. So I’ve picked up Mafex Superman from Batman vs Superman. I’ll probably also get the Wonder Woman but I’m happy with my Nolan Batman.
I’m going to do a full review in the future but it’s a decent figure. He’s got a bit of a funky Unibrow thing going on but it’s not as bad as I thought it was initially.
Figma A Link Between Worlds Link
I didn’t order the original Figma Link from Skyward Sword. I’m not a huge fan of that Link design, though it seems like a pretty nice figure. My Link tends to be the earlier Link, from the original Zelda or A Link to the Past. Which is why I went with the recently released A Link Between Worlds Link. I’ve been a little behind on my Zelda Lore lately but apparently A link Between Worlds is a sequel to A Link to the Past, which is kind of convenient.
This Link is younger looking and more cartoon looking than the Skyward Sword predecessor. He comes with a ton of accessories, especially the DX version. I’ve never played A Link Between Worlds so some of these accessories are kind of unknown to me like the little snail, or the wand thingy. He also has a flay drawing version of Link that I imagine is important to the game.
My only real complaint is that he is a LOT smaller than expected.
