Bionic Commando (NES) 1 Player Use your bionic grapeling arm to infiltrate the enemy base, rescue Super Joe and sve the world! That's a lot easier said than done though. Graphics: 7/10 Pretty good graphics. You can tell they are supposed ot be people, and the enemies walk around like on emight picture enemy commandos to walk around. The bullets are pretty similer no matter what weapon they come from, though it' not a big complaint or anything. Music and Sound: 6/10 Nothing great, nothing bad. It's just sort of so so average music. There is differnet music on some levels though, so it's not as terrible as some games with one song the whole time. The sound effects are pretty boring too. Your gun fires but I don't really recall the enemies having any sound effects. Game Play: 7/10 Controls are pretty good, though occasionally you may find yourself swinging to your death after using your bionic arm. The arm isn't too hard ot get used to using, which is good because several points require faily precision use of the weapon. You can't jump though, which allways seems sort of wierd, I mean, why would yo utrain a commando to go fight if he can't leap off the ground? It's a limited controls problem though more then a gameplay problem, the NES only has two buttons, and they needed one for firing the gun and one for using the arm. They even use the Start button for using items, whcih is awkward with the NES Advantage controller I use (with the Start buttong on one side) than it is with the normal conroller (witht he star button in the center). Overall: 6.7 A fun classic that I would reccomend. It's a lengthy game however and the lack of a save or password feature really hurts it in this respect. Even if you are really good at it expect to play for a while if you want to get through all the levels. There was recently a new Color Game Boy Bionic Commando that was released which I imagine is pretty similer to this game. Tip: Collect lots of the little pellet things enemies drop to increase your life. Sure it's a sorry tip, but there aren't any codes for this game.
