Lameazoid 2006 Year In Review

When I first started Lameazoid.com as a website each year I’d post this sort of post. Hell everyone seems to do a “Yearly status” post. It’s a good idea really; it’s motivational to the writer and gives the reader something to look forward to.

I’m very pleased with the direction Lameazoid is heading in. I’ve spent years running my website in a shambled mess. Mostly I just had confusing direction and manually updating paged is a chore. The new blog powered format works wonderfully and smoothly. Also for the first time ever I’ve gotten the domain name to function properly. Previously going to Lameazoid.com would just forward you to a URL or IP of the host. Now I’ve got true domain mapping. It’s something I’ve wanted since I bought the domain.

I’m also happy with my update regularity. In the past I’d post a post or two a day for a couple of weeks thenn things would drop off into nothing for months. I’ve kept a good solid update schedule since I moved to WordPress. I’m also pleased with the quality. Keeping the Livejournal as a secondary blog has done wonders for filtering off the stuff that’s more… garbageish.

So what’s in store for 2007? Well I still want to start doing video blogs. I’m thinking I may scrap the Ranting at 80mph idea and just make a new rant based blog. The videos I still want to keep though. I tried to post one yesterday but Youtube takes ages to process video files. I’m worried that I may have done something wrong. Anyway my new camera just pushes this desire even more.

2007 may hold slightly less on-site game reviews. I’ve been offered the chance to write for netjak.com on sort of a trial basis. Still, they are geared more towards retro reviews so I’ll continue to post new reviews here. Also because I’m anal about uniformity I’ll post any future Castlevania or Final Fantasy reviews here. Actually I did a Dawn of Souls review for FF1, I may have to do a NES version for them. Anyway…

I also want to do more feature type articles and not just reviews. In the past I had a whole mess of ideas for regular top ten features. I may repost my old Top Ten Game Badasses list as a start to more top tens. I’m just not quite sure how to handle multipart lists in a blog type format.

You can also look forward to more, better photos over on Flickr. The new camera is totally sweet and blows away the capabilities of my old camera. Over the time period of my old camera I took roughly 7000 photos over the time span of 2 years. That’s roughly 300 per month on average. I’ve already taken double that in the first month of owning my new camera, and I’m more satisfied with the photos produced by this camera. The kids also all have their own cameras now so there’s no more artificial inflation of the number of photos taken.

So in short, expect more of what we’ve had, only better! Not that you can get much better than “Super Awesome” anyway.
