Review - Marvel Legends - S6 - Deadpool

Somehow I‘ve managed to find myself both a Deadpool AND a Pheonix from wave 6 of Marvel Legends yet Juggernaut eludes me.  These two aren’t really chase figures, they are just packed in some ridiculously low number like one per case.  It seems having a recent movie or being “Wolverine”  means you’re automatically popular enough to get 3 slots apiece (of 12).  That explains why Punisher an Wolverine are everywhere.  Clearly they are flying off the shelves.

Rant aside, I can’t say I know much about Deadpool.  The comic suggests he’s kind of a dorky ninja guy who spouts of more one-liners than attack.  He actually comes off “less cool” after reading through the comic than before, so if you have no idea who the character is, I recommend you keep your preconceived ideas of badassitude.  Instead I’ll sum things up, essentially Deadpool toys with Hulk a bit in order o extract a sample of Hulk’s green gamma blood.  That’s all you need to know.

Moving on the figure, I’ll just come straight out and say, this guy is fantastic.  We may have a new contender for Best Legends Figure Ever, which so far is pretty much limited to Captain America and Iron Man from way backing wave 1.  Apparently the body is recycled from the recent Daredevil figure released in the Spider-man classics line, but recycling isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  He’s loaded with articulation and is capable of holding almost any ninjaesque pose you can think of.  The paint detail is simple, but matches the character design very nicely with it’s black and red.  His belt and grenade strap are both separate pieces, as is his sword sheath backpack.

Speaking of sword sheaths, Deadpool is also loaded with accessories and can carry or store all of them.  The two swords fit nicely in their sheaths, each sheath also has a peg for one of the two AKs.  The sais fit (more or less in the leg pouch.  All of the accessories also work well in his hands.  The sais are the same as the ones includes with Elektra, but he swords and sheaths are different.  Additionally, Deadpool includes a scarred second unmasked head.  I don’t personally care for the look of the unmasked head, but it is well done and interchanges easily with the masked ninja head.

There is also a stand that pegs into his back, this helps to keep the figure balanced if you want to pose him high kicking someone or even in mid jump.  Or the stand can be used to hold up Doop.  Who is Doop?  I honestly can’t say.  My research says he’s a member of X-factor, but I can’t find much else on the subject.  He’s green and looks kind of dreary eyed and has a huge X (like the X-men) symbol on his stomach.  I imagine he flies as well since he is lacking in legs of any sort.

So, to wrap things up here, Deadpool is definitely on top of the Marvel Legends list as far as coolness, and quality go.  As a bonus you even get a second figure (sort of) in Doop.
