Transformers “Pseudo Classics”

I finally managed to aquire an Energon Bulkhead for a reasonable cost on ebay ($6). The best part was that the seller lives in Springfield IL, where my parents live. I was in town the day the action ended so I was able to pick it up in person and save on shipping.

With the advent of the mostly accurate Transformers Classics line, fans have been working on a list of possible stand ins for other classics characters. Some are obvious like Cybertron Smokescreen or Energon Downshift. Others take a bit of more stretch but work reasonably well such as Cybertron Blurr or Energon’s Shockblast.

Then there are those that can be highly debatable like Breakdown GTS as Kup. Fact of the matter is, War Within Kup looks a lot like Breakdown GTS, whoes color scheme looks a lot like Kup’s.

Personally Hot Rod is kind of lonely in the Classics line. He is pretty much the only real post movie character in the line. Other than Bumblebee and maybe Astrotrain. Hate to spoil it for anyone unaware but Prime, Megs, Starscream, likely Mirage, they all die in Transformers the Movie.

So I’ve drummed up a few friends to go with ol’ Rodimus.

Of course we still have the issue that Classics Rodimus is actually “Classics Hot Rod” who more or less only shows up in the movie but hey, who’s really paying attention to such details.

We have of course Energon Bulkhead, playing the part of Springer. Cybertron Breakdown GTS and Blurr filling the rolls of Kup and Blurr. G1 Perceptor is such a nice toy anyway I decided he could stand in for, yep, you guessed it, Blaster. Classics Rodimus taked the roll of Hot Rod. Arcee is a bit dimminutive but she is an ok placeholder for Arcee. Energon Grimlock, which I much prefer design wise to the newly released Classics Grimlock fills in as our lovable dumb warrior. Finally, towering over everyone else, is RiD Ultra Magnus, which is actually a stand in until I get the real Classics Magnus.

My Decepticon and Pre-Movie line ups are still in a bit of “Work in Progress” stage at the moment so I’ll have to pass on showing them off.

I’m slowly building up my “classics” line. I just got Energon Omega Supreme last week and I love his size. He can easily grab Starscream by the leg.

Right now I have Cybertron Soundwave fill in as Soundwave as I’m not pleased with the look of the Titanium version.

I’m still looking at ways to kitbash a trailer for when I get my hands on Classics Ultra Magnus so I can give him a new but familiar body armor.

Yeah, I like that picture of Omega. I hve one but he’s been stored away for most of the time I’ve owned him due to his size. I never realized just how huge he was.

I have an extra G1 trailer I’m going ot kitbash for my Classics Magnus I’ve been working it out abit with Prime as a stand in. It’s going otbe simpler than expected I think. The hardest part will be adding shoulder articulation.
