Anyone who reads this latest iteration of Lameazoid.com and has also been reading my stuff for years may notice that I tend to recycle old reviews from time to time. I honestly don’t have an issue with this practice (obviously) unless it’s done in bulk. For example, today I posted a Disgaea review. This is an old review from my livejournal, though if it’s any consolation it’s actually the second review I’ve written for the game. But at the same time it’s been a hell of a weekend and I havn’t had time to really think about reviews or blogging.
Scratch that, I have a zillion things I want to blog but I just havn’t had the will power. I’m tired and worn out and it’s not over yet. It’s not like I have a lack of things to review, Two Casltevania games, Classics Prime, FF: Dawn of Souls, I’m working on FF12 at the moment and I’ve got reorders up tomorrow for Reissue Soundwave and Castlevania Portrait of Ruin. Not to mention a whole slew of article ideas and older games/transformers to cover.
The only real problem with reusing content is I tend not to reread it. Occasionally you may get points that don’t make sense or are no longer valid. Sometimes I DO write new reviews. Examples being Disgaea and Final Fantasy 7, though the FF7 review was originally written for my failed Zine project. Someday I’ll slap a cover on what I’ve got and toss the PDF out for all to see.
Ocasionally my opinion actualyl does change but more often than not it doesn’t. Morrowind is the only game that I rewrote the review for with a completely different viewpoint, but then the first “review” was just a huge rip fest because the game was too demanding on hardware and I couldn’t get it to run or install properly.
Also I don’t mind reusing content because one day I hope to have all of my better stuff together in one format. The Blog format is infinitely portable, often even between services. Also there is a ton of stuff Idon’t repost. My opinion of computer drive space is that ittakes up zero space. So I’m a huge HUGE packrat of digital files. I have newsletters I made when I was 7 reformatted into HTML and archived away. I have nearly every piece of writing I’ve ever done on a computer stored away somewhere. 90% of it is pure shit, but I keep it anyway because hey, it’s not hurting anything just sitting on a disk drive somewhere. Back when Lameazoid first started I posted lots of dumb rants, many of which find embarrasing to read now.
Then there are new readers. Because I’ve changed hosting and set up repeatedly in the past, it makes it hard for new readers to catch up on things. The best part is they don’t have to sift through the garbage.
So in closing, ues I reuse content at times, but I’ve been really good lately at keeping the old infused with plenty of new. Now, I have a head ache so I’m going to sign off and end my lunch break.

What? *scoffs* That’s it! You’ve just lost one new reader!
The first rule about blogging is that there is no reusing posts!
The sencond rule about bloggin is that there are no rules.

The first rule of blogging is you do not talk about blogging.
